4.0 Roleplay Rules
Roleplay (RP) is a significant aspect of life on Alathra. While participation in RP is optional, respect for those who engage in it is mandatory. These rules protect the integrity of roleplay and help maintain a collaborative, immersive environment.
For further guidance, we strongly recommend reading the Roleplay Guidelines [Here].
4.1 No metagaming or powergaming.
Do not use out-of-character (OOC) knowledge to influence your in-character (IC) decisions. Likewise, do not force actions or outcomes on others without giving them a fair chance to respond.
4.2 Do not roleplay discriminatory or explicit themes.
Content involving slavery, racism, homophobia, genocide, bigotry, or sexual acts is strictly forbidden in any roleplay.
4.3 No romantic RP between adults and minors.
An adult is anyone aged 18 or older. If you're engaging in romantic RP, it is the adult's responsibility to ensure the other party is also an adult.
Tip: Take a screenshot of them confirming they are 18+ for your protection.
4.4 All actions are considered in-roleplay (IRP).
Unless explicitly agreed otherwise by all involved parties, any in-game action that affects another player will be considered a roleplay action.
4.5 Do not reference real-world or existing fictional content in RP.
Avoid using real places, people, religions, historical events, or any established fictional media in your lore, roleplay, or town/nation names.
4.6 Stick to the server’s theme.
All RP, lore, and characters must align with Alathra’s setting: Medieval, Medieval Fantasy, or Light Steampunk. Modern or unrelated themes break immersion and are not allowed.
4.7 You cannot kill off or swap characters to escape consequences.
Avoiding roleplay outcomes by resetting or abandoning your character is not allowed. Actions carry consequences—face them as part of the shared story.
4.8 Do not disrupt roleplay events.
Only attend RP events if invited or if it’s clearly an open event. If the event involves the possibility of player death or conflict, contact staff beforehand to avoid moderation issues.
Note:Any in-game action can and likely will be interpreted as an IRP action by other players—unless all parties clearly agree it is not RP. You are responsible for how your actions are perceived.
Terminology- OOC (Out of Character): Communication or actions made by you, the player—not your character. Used for coordination or clarification without affecting RP.
- IC (In Character): All actions, dialogue, and behavior performed by your character within the roleplay world. IC behavior should be consistent with your character’s traits and knowledge.
- RP (Roleplay): The act of embodying a fictional character and participating in a shared narrative world with others.
- IRP (In Roleplay): A label used to indicate that something is part of the RP world and considered canonical to the story.
- Metagaming: Using OOC information that your character should not know IC. This breaks immersion and fairness.
- Powergaming: Forcing outcomes or behaving in an unrealistically overpowered way without giving other players a chance to respond or counter.
